How the categories are organized

EveryFix groups its free tools by the kind of problem they solve rather than by the kind of math they use. A mortgage payment, a car loan and a savings goal all use similar formulas, but a person facing one of them is thinking about money, so those tools sit together under Finance. A concrete pour and a fence line may share geometry, but both are building jobs, so they live under Construction. If you are not sure where to look, start with the decision you are trying to make and pick the category that matches it.

Planning a purchase of materials for a house or yard usually involves two categories. Home & Garden covers the finishes and landscaping you see, such as paint, flooring, tile, mulch, sod and seed. Construction covers the structural and rough work behind them, such as concrete, rebar, drywall, roofing, stairs and fencing. Money questions often cross categories too: the cost to run a vehicle sits under Auto, while the loan that paid for it is under Finance, and the Business category handles the pricing and invoicing side of a small company.

Health tools such as BMI, calorie and water-intake calculators are educational estimates built on published formulas, not medical advice. Travel and Planning tools help with trip budgets, time zones, packing and moving, while Unit Converters handle the everyday length, weight, temperature, area, volume, speed and fuel-economy conversions that come up in every other category. Everyday Tools gathers the utilities that do not fit elsewhere, including text counters, generators, formatters and random pickers.

Every category page lists all of its tools and adds a short guide to choosing between them, practical tips, related how-to articles and answers to common questions. If you want a step-by-step explanation of one calculation before you run it, the Resources library has long-form guides that walk through the formulas with worked examples.
